О творчестве С.Довлатова, о его жизни , о последних днях и рассвете творчества вспоминают, спорят, анализируют, шутят, рассуждают - Авторы программы. В программе использованы фрагменты из программ Сергея Довлатова "Поверх Барьеров" (август 1990года, за несколько дней до ухода писателя) на Радио Свобода, звучит первая глава из книги "Иностраннка", читает автор (архив радиостанции), в этой книге С. Довлатов рассказывает о жизни русской эмиграции третьей волны в Нью-Йорке.
