Summary
The director and her aunt travel to her family's hometown not far from Fukushima. Fukushima used to be a paradise with colorful festivals and sunny beaches, but today it is an abandoned, radioactive, and contaminated area, Aunt Kuniko and her community, once avid supporters of the local nuclear plant, lost their homes in the aftermath of the nuclear catastrophe. Even so Kyoko’s aunt stills dreams of returning. She used to run a bakery, a wedding business, and a funeral parlor. For her, the present lies in ruins but not the past. The director follows her aunt in order to find out the fate of her family's home-town and along the way begins to question her nostalgic childhood memories. This is a film about the emotional consequences of a nuclear disaster.
