Valery Liashkevich is a homeless artist who lives at the Gomel railway station in Belarus. For over twenty years, he has been painting abstract and symbolic pictures in the streets of the town. Well known to locals, he has become part of the landscape he captures in his work. However, recent attention from the art world has the potential to change his circumstances and bring his art and life philosophy to a wider and more appreciative audience. Exhibitions at the National Art Museum of Belarus in Minsk have led to sales of his work that could finally take him off the streets.
