a| The film follows Niels, a half-Danish half-Greenlandic man, on his spiritual journey to re-connect with his Greenlandic roots. A tale of poetic imagery woven into magnificent Greenlandic scenery, the film laments the transformation of Inuit cultural identity by centuries of the imposition of values and norms by majority society. Images of ice, water, vapor and clouds render the transformative powers of postcolonial traumas. With a unique visual narrative, the film explores the social and cultural consequences of the colonization of Greenland, and consequently that of the island’s indigenous inhabitants, the Greenlandic Inuits.
