Walter, German n.c.o., a skeptical and disillusioned intellectual, falls most unexpectedly (even for himself) in love with the Jewish girl Ruth. Lieutenant Kurt who is in charge of the camp brings Ruth one night to a party with women and drinks. Here Kurt has a long conversation with her, which stirs unexpected feelings. This new feeling gradually makes him stop and reflect on the events taking place around him and to come face to face with the inhuman nature of fascism. He is tortured by worries about the part he is called upon to play in the eternal struggle between evil and good. Helped by Bulgarian resistance fighters, Walter organizes Ruth`s escape. When the time arrives he realizes that he has been deceived about the exact departure hour of the prisoners. The Germans in this film have a psychological dimension added to their characters, which is a novelty not only in WW2 films in general, but for Bulgarian cinema at this time as well. The love story between a Jewish and German is also unique for its time. The author of the script is Angel Wagenstein, a Bulgarian literary and script-writer of Jewish origin. 942 |2ddc |cDVD-ROM 952 |00 |10 |2ddc |40 |6FL_RECORD_0424A |70 |8FL |994540FL |bFL |d2017-03-03 |l0 |oFL Record 0424a |r2017-03-03 |w2017-03-03 |yDVD-ROM |cAudio Visual 920 01 xeEPj4YJ 966 |cIn the Research Room
