In Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia, men abduct a bride if they are not rich enough to pay a dowry. The kidnapping is often discussed beforehand in the potential groom's family: who has a car available, what the girl should be able to do, and where she will live. After the abduction, the new in-laws inform the girl’s parents, who often accept the “proposal.” Kidnapping a bride is common practice. “We have all been abducted,” a women tell a freshly kidnapped girl who reluctantly stands in a corner. Director Petr Lom films the brides, the grooms and the in-laws, and tells the story from this remote country in five chapters. 580 Soros Documentary Fund 942 |2ddc |cDVD-ROM 952 |00 |10 |2ddc |40 |6FL_RECORD_0001_000000000000000 |70 |8FL |9126728FL |bFL |d2018-08-07 |l0 |oFL Record 0001 |pHU_OSA_00000001 |r2018-08-07 |w2018-08-07 |yDVD-ROM |cAudio Visual 952 |00 |10 |2ddc |40 |6FL_RECORD_0001_000000000000000 |70 |8FL |9145107FL |bFL |d2020-12-02 |l0 |oFL Record 0001 |pHU_OSA_00001815.mp4 |r2021-11-04 |w2020-12-02 |yDIGIFILM |zAccess Copy, MP4 format |cAudio Visual 920 01 xeEa17eJ 966 True |bHU_OSA_00001815 |cDigitally Anywhere / With Registration
