Every weekend, dozens of people gather on both sides of the United States-Mexico border fence in Friendship Park, the only binational place along the 2,000-mile border where people can meet. Families, friends and lovers on the US side crowd together into a small area of tightly-woven steel mesh, trying to catch a glimpse of their loved ones, and perhaps press their fingertips together, or whisper to each other whilst the border patrol passes by. Among those present is Jose Marquez, a 67-year-old Mariachi singer who has come to see his daughter. Although they live just a few miles apart, they have been separated by the border for almost 15 years, proving that, despite the massive walls and militarized checkpoints, love has no borders.
