520    The film is spread over two significant years in the life of Wanda, a mature woman with a past of alcoholism. When the film begins she is in a relationship with Tomasz, who is 16 years her junior, and believes that she is experiencing her first true love. The story follows her as she is admitted to hospital to have a brain tumor removed. However, it is not cancer she is most afraid of, but a drinking relapse. Two years later, she is much changed, and single again. But although her beloved Tomasz has left her, she wishes him only happiness.
