a| The film focuses on the stories of Chinese immigrants in Bucharest who search for ways to navigate the social and economic landscape of present-day Romania. The film spotlights several personal stories in order to provide insight into the life of this community, as well as the Romanian realities as seen from the perspective of global capitalism and economic migration. Shen Xiaoming is a Chinese businessman and a Romanian citizen who is enthusiastic about a Chinatown area in Bucharest and strives to mediate between Chinese entrepreneurs and Romanian bureaucrats, trying to bridge the two worlds and yet feeling the gap between them. Han Wenlong is an illegal immigrant whose dream of working in an Eastern European construction site has ended even before it began. Li Jianhua is a journalist who put his own life in danger trying to objectively present the life of a developing community.
