Contents/Summary

Summary
Nine Month War tells the story of a young Hungarian man from Western Ukraine. Jani feels sheltered by his mother’s care, and eager to try "real" adult life. When he is drafted to serve in Eastern Ukraine he ignores his mother and fiancée’s pleas to avoid conscription, and considers it an exciting adventure that will put his masculinity and bravery to the test. He soon finds himself on the frontline where first-hand experience with war changes him forever. The film palpably exposes the impact of military service and war on those who enter into it with naïve notions, but later find it hard to restore the peace in their own lives.
