The footage is then smuggled across the border and broadcast via satellite from the headquarters in Oslo. These are the images that could be seen across the globe when a revolution was about to erupt in the late summer of 2007. Led by Buddhist monks, more than 100,000 people took to the streets to march peacefully against the military dictatorship that has held the country in an iron grip for 40 years. Burma VJ - Reporting From a Closed Country was compiled almost exclusively from footage shot by DVB reporters. One of them supplies the voice-over. From his hiding place in Thailand, he uses the telephone or Internet to stay in touch with colleagues who report on the uprising: shaky hand-held images of emergency deliberations by protesters, of the crowd being dispersed, of monks and civilians getting knocked down. Their cameras hidden in bags or clenched under their armpits, the DVB reporters risk their lives to take the viewer right into the heat of the turmoil. 580 Verzio Film Festival Submission 655 4 Documentary films 260 Denmark, |c2008. 041 mya |jeng 952 |00 |10 |40 |50 |70 |8FL |991634FL |bFL |d2016-11-25 |l0 |r2016-11-25 |w2016-11-25 |yDVD-ROM 952 |00 |10 |2ddc |40 |6FL_RECORD_1688_000000000000000 |70 |8FL |9147207FL |bFL |d2019-03-25 |l0 |oFL Record 1688 |pHU_OSA_00003312.mp4 |r2021-11-04 |w2019-03-25 |yDIGIFILM |zAccess Copy, MP4 format |cAudio Visual 920 01 yoz7BkXr 966 True |bHU_OSA_00003312 |cDigitally Anywhere / With Registration
