a| 'Free' narrates the story of a group of people with intellectual disabilities and illustrates their pursuit for freedom whilst being locked in various Croatian institutions. Director Tomislav Zaja highlights what it's like to be isolated, deprived of privacy and one's right to make decisions regarding their own life through the stories of Ivan, Enes, Tina, Kruno, Mirko and Tomo. They are told that they will be released and after decades spent in institutions, a new life awaits them. Zaja captures them during the biggest change in their life and urges us as an audience to consider our own freedom and the things we perhaps take for granted.
