Notes
The black and white prints of RFE/RL were donated to OSA by the Hoover Institute, California in year 2015. The images are duplicates of those held at Hoover. The originals, and most probably the negatives are with the donor as well. OSA only received the paper prints with captions, and digitized the entire collection in year 2018.

A modern teletype service enables the New York and Munich offices of Radio Free Europe to conduct instantaneous two-way communications. Here a teletype message, just off the wires from Munich, Germany, is collected by a secretary. More than 7,000 American news stories are teletyped to Munich annually to keep RFE's listeners in the Soviet satellite countries of Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland and Romania abreast of the American scene. RFE broadcasts daily to the 79 million peoples behind the Iron Curtain over 28 powerful transmitters located in West Germany and Portugal.
Radio Free Europe is a division of the Free Europe Committee, Inc., a private, non-profit organization, founded in 1949, supported by the American public through contributions to the Radio Free Europe Fund (formerly Crusade for Freedom).
