Nationalism and xenophobia grows in Eastern Europe after the regime change in 1990. Traveling on János Kádár's luxury train, researchers of Estern and Western social history discuss how to end the war in the former Yugoslavia.
The film follows the researchers' arguments discussing the dangers of nationalistic narratives and politics in Central Europe. Traveling together on a train from Budapest to Auschwitz and back to Budapest was driven by hope to reach a consensus among Eastern European intellectuals.
The film project was sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation and the Soros Foundation.
