The film documents the political movements challenging the one-party system in Hungary in autumn 1988. It covers the protests against the Bős-Gabčíkovo hydroelectric plant, held at Budapest and Nagymaros; the protests and student strikes fought for freedom rights at the Eötvös University in Budapest and the University of Szeged and the demonstrations of the conscientious objectors on the streets of Budapest. The film ends with the brutal attack by the police on the peaceful protesters on the first anniversary of the demonstrations at Brașov (Transylvania region, Romania) 15 November 1988.
