Audio recording of the graduation ceremony of the class of 1999/2000 in the Budapest's Vigadó Concert Hall in June 2000. Introductory words by Stefan Messmann, Academic Pro-Rector of CEU between 1999 and 2003. Opening remarks are delivered by Yehuda Elkana, President and Rector of the CEU between 1999 and 2009, and Peter F. Tufo, U.S. Ambassador to Hungary between 1997-2001. These speeches are followed by the speeches of the Alumni Speaker and the Student’s Speaker. The audio cassette contains also the presentation of the Central European University Open Society Prize to Hungarian President Árpád Göncz by CEU Founder George Soros and the President's acceptance speech. The Commencement Address is delivered by Nobel Prize-winning Nigerian author Wole Soyinka.
