Content and Structure

Scope and Content (Abstract)

These files, arranged in five boxes, relate to the general administrative work of the Forensic Assistance Project. Boxes # 1 and # 2 contain files of materials relating directly to the exhumation sites described in the Forensic Monitoring Reports. These are drafts of many of the Forensic Monitoring Reports, with corrections and suggestions, before they were written up in their final form. Pre-visit information about some of the sites before they were formally excavated and investigated. Exhumation Process Evaluation Reports, consisting of questionnaires filled in by the forensic monitors, evaluating the work done on the sites. Joint Exhumation Process Schedules, giving a detailed listing of all the sites visited, and the number of bodies discovered. Also some autopsy reports done on bodies excavated in sites in 1997.

Box # 3 largely contains files relating to the Forensic Needs Assessment Project which supplied the Bosniak, Serb and Croat Expert Teams working on the exhumations with the equipment and supplies they needed for the work. These records include forensic needs request lists from the three expert teams, and statements of acknowledgment of receipt of these supplies by the teams. The supplies were provided by the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).

Box # 4 contains files relating to the forensic facilities at Tuzla, Banja Luka, Mostar, Lukavica and Bihac, used to examine bodies exhumed from all the sites. These files describe conditions and make recommendations for improvements. Included is a file of photographs of these facilities. The rest of the box contains files of guidelines and project description, minutes of meetings, work schedules and details of training programs and conferences held relating to the work of the FAP.

Box # 5 mostly consists of general correspondence relating to the work of theFAP from 1996 to 1999, and all the issues that arose from the project. It also contains some personnel files, with job descriptions for potential applicants, the Curriculum Vitaes of various applicants, and a list of the participating members of the State Commission on Missing Persons. The series ends with a file of miscellaneous materials relating generally to the work of the FAP.
