Content and Structure
- Scope and Content (Abstract)
- Consists of monitoring of the satellite broadcasts of the Iraqi State Television (IST) and the Kurdish Television. Programs on the IST ran 24 hours/day, but since the war on Iraq started, several intermissions have occurred due to attacks. Broadcasting broke down on early April 7, 2003.
The recorded IST programs show a great variety: from hourly news blocs through political commentaries and roundtable discussions on the ongoing war to musical-patriotic propaganda clips. On Fridays lengthy religious programs were broadcast. The leader of the country, Saddam Hussein was also shown on various occasions. Of special interest are the English language press conferences held by the Iraqi Information Minister.
Many of the programs were repeated throughout the day.
The monitoring of the Kurdish Television is under processing.
