Recording of the CEU Graduation Ceremony of 1999. This section contains the last part of the conferment of degrees upon CEU's class of 1999 and the arrival of Václav Havel, President of the Czech Republic, a poet and a leading intellectual figure. President Havel was welcomed by Budapest Mayor Gábor Demszky. CEU Founder George Soros and outgoing President and Rector Josef Jarab then presented President Havel with the Open Society Prize. After receiving the Prize, President Havel delivered the Commencement Address to the audience. Also contains recordings of the reception that followed the Ceremony.
