Recording of the official opening of CEU's tenth academic year, held on October 10, 2000, in Budapest's Vigadó Concert Hall. Following a welcome from Vice President for Student Services Rositza Bateson and remarks by Academic Pro-Rector Stefan Messmann, US Ambassador to Hungary Peter F. Tufo delivered the opening address. The incoming students were also welcomed by doctoral student Irene Barbiera (Medieval Studies) and by one of their own, incoming Legal Studies student Volodimir Shkred. An interlude of flute music was provided by Political Science doctoral student Annamária Orbán.
