Scope and Content (Narrative)

Mihály Csákó was a member of numerous scientific institutions and societies related to sociology, computer science, and education policy. He was a member of international organizations dedicated to the field of sociology, such as the International Sociological Association (ISA) and the European Sociological Association (ESA). He served as the president of the Hungarian Sociological Association in 2000, vice president in 1999 and 2001, and a member of the board from 2002 until his passing. From 2002 until his death, he was a member of the Sociology Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and served as the chairman of the subcommittee on educational sociology from 2007 to 2010. Additionally, he was recognized among the members of the Work Science Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences from 2002 to 2010. From 2001 to 2003, he held the role of chairperson for the Sociology Review Panel of the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund (OTKA).

He was active in the circles of organizations focused on computer science as well, being a member of the Neumann János Computer Science Society, as well as the Centre de coordination pour la Recherche et l'Enseignement en Informatique et Société (CREIS), which brought together educators and researchers studying the societal impacts of new information and communication technologies. His involvement in educational policy included participation in the editorial board of the journal "Educatio", where he also served as editor-in-chief. Starting from 2015, he was an official advisor, expert, and researcher for the Independent Student Parliament (Független Diákparlament), and received the Democratic Education Award in 2017. He also played a role as a representative in the Civil Public Education Platform and was involved in the activities of the Gyula Rézler Foundation's board of trustees.

The series includes publications from ISA and ESA, the statutes of the Hungarian Sociological Association, its newsletters, and invitations to general meetings, board meetings, and conferences. It also contains materials related to conferences organized by the Work Science Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and OTKA grant applications. Additionally, the series preserves notes from editorial board meetings of "Educatio," published articles in the journal, correspondence, texts for editing, and materials related to grant applications, board meetings, correspondence, and recommendations associated with the Gyula Rézler Foundation. Documents related to membership in the Láthatatlan Kollégium (Invisible College) Foundation and the Áron Márton Special College are also part of the series.
