The tape begins in a Kosovo town which is the site of a massacre that had occurred one and a half months earlier, on April 1, 1999, at Lebeniq, near Peja. There is an interview with a survivor of the massacre. He describes how he survived the massacre of his townspeople by playing dead. The house of Shaban Uskit on Rruga E Shosheve Street, where people were burned alive, is shown; Shots are of remains of the people including clothes, bones, and belongings, rubble.

The second area shown is Musa Zajmi Street in the town of Gjakova, the site of a massacre that occurred just on April 13, 1999. Two interviews commence with men who had survived it. Salih Nikoliqi, a witness whose father, Xharrit Nikoliqi, was killed, talks about the destruction of the Shaqe Gorani's house where there are three unidentified cadavers. The witness states that Gojk Gojkoviqi is one of the people responsible for the massacre. In another part of Gjakova, Qarshi E Vogel street, the interviewee tells about the destroyed house of Tahir Nikoliqi, a disabled 70 year-old man who was burned alive in his house. The witness also identifies Gojk Gojkoviqi as a perpetrator. We are shown the fresh remains of their people and town.

The WITNESS Kosovo Project traveled throughout the countryside, visiting the sites of several massacres and interviewing the friends, relatives and eyewitnesses of the massacres. The Kosovar journalists working with WITNESS ventured into heavily mined fields just days after the reported killings, filming the dead bodies spread out on the ground with no cover or burial. Several individuals give personal testimony and opinions about the NATO bombings and political struggles. |This footage is from the Ereniku River in the village of Rize, near Gjakova. There is footage of a charred cadaver, found by children playing near the river, one of 2 unidentified victims murdered on June 2, 1999. There is then footage of 2 more burnt corpses and possessions of victims of a massacre in Meh, which took place on May 26, 1999. There are shots of the spot where 2 unidentified children were buried near the site of the massacre. A survivor from Meh is interviewed. Last, there is footage of a mass grave in the village of Kroniq, where about 80 people are said to be buried. There is narration throughout the video supplying location, date and background information.

According to the narrator, the massacre here took place on May 7, 1999, but the location is not named. There is footage of destroyed houses, rubble, bones, possessions, etc. The narrator states that people were found hiding in the attic of the house, removed, and then executed.

This video was shot in Radoshevc, which is a village located in the Llap region, north of Pristina. The video depicts corpses being removed from the places where the Serbian police and paramilitary who killed and then left them, and then being formally buried at mass grave sites. |There are several interviews. The first person interviewed is an elderly woman named Bahtije Maloku from the village of Batlava, 9 kilometers from Prishtina, whose son was killed by the Serbian police. She had to flee from her home to Llukar and then to Makovc. There second person interviewed is Esat Berisha, Raif Berisha's brother. He explains that the graves shown were made on April 20, 1999 and that Enver Maloku, 39 years old, Raif Berisha, 41, and his wife Esna, 38 are buried there. Their son, Besnik Berisha, 12 years old, was found burned. Next Shqipe Berisha, Raif Brisha's daughter, is interviewed. She recounts that her father was killed on April 20, 1999, when the Serbian military surrounded their house and forced them to leave. Then Nuhi Maloku, Enver's son, is interviewed. He tells how the Serbian military killed his father on April 20, 1999 and how he fled to Prishtina.

The footage was shot in Cuska (Qyshk) in the district of Pejes. They show the bloodstained sites of mass killings, the remains of homes that were burned by Serbian paramilitary soldiers in May 1999, and new gravesites. The videos contain the testimonies of several survivors from Cuska (Qyshk). There is good quality footage of rubble, destroyed buildings. The first man who is interviewed is Nur Queka. He speaks about the murder of 3 unidentified persons, about 60,30, and 18 years of age, on the evening of May 3rd, 1999. He refers to the execution of Dem Lajci, from Katundi I Ri, about a month earlier, in the same place. He witnessed the killing of Aziz Sharapolli, around 70 years old, and Naxhmije Sharapolli, around 60 years old, on the night of May 13th.| A woman named is Lirije Gashi is interviewed. She relates the story of a massacre, which occurred in the morning of May 14th 1999. She knew several of the Serbian troops from her hometown, Peja. The soldiers separated the men from the women, robbed them, and then proceeded to shoot and burn the men. Only one man, Hazir Berisha survived.| The next man interviewed is Isa Gashi, who recounts his experience in the Cuska (Qyshk) massacre, May 14th, 1999, and how he managed to survive. Halil Gashi, Emin Gashi, Jashar Gashi, Uke Lushi, Osman Lushi, Gani Azdylaj, Ram Gashi, Xafer Gashi, Iber Kelmendi, Ismet Dinaj were all shot and burned to death after the paramilitary stole their money, and other valuables.| The third person who speaks is Rexh Isuf Kelmendi. He tells how they were separated into three groups the morning of May 14th. The first group was executed immediately. His group was taken to the home of Dem Gashi, and the third to the home of Sahit Mehmeti. He recalls how the police forced him to light the curtain on fire and then shot people all around him. He escaped through a window, but Besim, Brahim, Mentor, and Dogan Kelmendi, Brahim and Ahmet Gashi, Emrush Krasniqi and Ismet Dinaj were all killed.| Adjet Gashi is interviewed next. He found his cousins, Skender and Syle Gashi dead under the fallen roof of a burned house.| A 16-year-old boy named Nerzim Lushi speaks about being led around by the paramilitaries, being threatened and robbed, and witnessing torture. His father, Osman, uncle Sefedin, and 7 cousins, Abdullah, Skender, Xafer, Ramiz, Uke, Caush, and Arian Lushi were killed.| Hasir Berisha, the sole survivor of an aforementioned May 14th massacre, is interviewed. He tells how 5 soldiers with machine guns and an automatic rifle told them to sit on couches, and then shot at them. The soldiers then threw a canister of gasoline and set the house on fire. Hasir suffered 7-8 fractures in his leg, but escaped the fire. Isuf Shala from Graboc, Arian Caush Lushi, Zeqir Alia from Zllopek, Emrush Krasniqi from Vranoc, Abdullah, Xhafer and Ram Gashi, and Skender and Xhafer Lushi from Cuska (Qyshk) were all killed around him.| Haxhi Ceku is interviewed. He was a witness when his brother, Hasan, was shot and his legs were set on fire by Serbian troops, also the morning of May 14th, 1999. Hasan was the father of Agim Ceku, an Albanian officer. The man whose yard they were in while they were robbed and threatened, was shot in his home. Hasan's daughter talks about this experience, explaining that the paramilitary had been killing the families of Albanian officers, and they were just waiting for their turn to come.

This video contains footage from Siceve te Prishtina. Footage shows bodies of massacre victims being removed from the places where the Serbian police and paramilitary left them, and then being formally buried as mass gravesites. There are shots of people mourning the dead who are being interred. There are interviews with two survivors from Siceve te Prishtina. The first man interviewed is Sevdaim Beqir Berisha, who is 22 years old. He explains how Sylejman and Jahir Berisha, both 99 years old, were killed in their sleep by two hand grenades. There is footage of the room where they were killed, including room in disarray, bullet holes, shells on floor; He also tells how his mother, Shehide Berisha, along with Vahide Berisha, was killed on May 16, 1999 by Serbian police and paramilitary. The second man interviewed is Shpetim Gashi from the village of Jereli. He recounts how he survived the massacre on May 15, 1999 in Jereli. There is more footage of a burial - good shots of graves being dug, mourners, some with photos of their deceased, crowds watching, graves with wooden markers.

Partner Zahn Hajdini traveled to Kosovo in 1998 to film the realities of refugee life following the NATO bombings and massacres by Serbian forces. In the first tape, we see many buildings and homes that have been destroyed and burned down. People of Kosovo are left with nowhere to go many of them flee to fields and valleys. For a majority of the video we see hundreds of men, women and children simply trying to survive with what they have left.

Members of the WITNESS Kosovo Project team traveled to the Kosovar countryside and filmed the gravesites of 20-30 massacred Kosovars. They were accompanied by a Kosovar Albanian woman who believes that her brother was buried in one of the unmarked graves.

This video shows four mass grave sites. The first mass grave site is in Shiroka, near Suva Reka. There are 17 graves although it is thought that there are two or more people buried in many of the graves. The people buried were killed in the massacre that took place on May 18, 1999. A witness, Refki Gashi from Dubrava whose brother is buried at the site, is interviewed. |The second mass grave shown is in a suburb of Suva Reka where numerous victims from the March 25, 1999 massacre in Suva Reka are buried. The March 25 massacre occurred one day after the NATO attacks began. The third mass grave shown is in Suva Reka where more victims from the March 25, 1999 massacre are believed to be buried. Among the victims buried at this site are the Berisha family, Rekije Bega from Banje, some of the Gashi family, and Fazli Mamaj and his son Enver Mamaj. The fourth mass grave shown is also in Suva Reka. Seventy civilian victims from the massacre on March 25, 1999 are buried here.
