Content and Structure

Scope and Content (Abstract)
The series contains Alfred A. Reisch’s published research articles and reports that were written for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) and were published in the series of bulletins entitled RFE Research Situation Reports, Research and Developmewnt (RAD) Background Reports, and Report on Eastern Europe, which was later renamed RFE/RL Research Report. They cover a wide range of topics on Hungarian, regional domestic and foreign policy, Hungarian defense and national security affairs, and national minority issues. Also included are preliminary publication drafts that precede these publications and inserts that Alfred A. Reisch wrote for RFE/RL Program Brief and Draft Research Paper. Furthermore, there are a few publications of the Report on Eastern Europe and RFE/RL Research Report that contain articles written by Alfred A. Reisch.

Also included is Alfred A. Reisch’s article for the Foreign Policy Review Journal, “The Hungarian Research and Evaluation Section of Radio Free Europe: Structure, History, Tasks and Performance”, which outlines the history and special mission of the section in the overall framework of RFE/RL activities. In addition, the series contains his article for the Journal of American Diplomacy, “The Reception and Impact of Western and Polish Émigré Books and Periodicals in Communist-Ruled Poland Between July 1, 1956 and June 30, 1973”. Moreover, there are also a few articles he wrote for various newspapers.
