In 1967, thanks to his friendly connections, Mihály Csákó had the opportunity to study in France, and he spent nearly a year in Nancy during the time of student movements. His experiences there permanently convinced him of the importance of advocacy. He became familiar with the activities of French trade unions such as the Confédération Française Démocratique du Travail (C.F.D.T.) and the Confédération Générale du Travail (C.G.T.). He collected materials that proved very useful later when he was elected as an executive in the Democratic League of Independent Trade Unions, where he was responsible for international relations.
The series includes Mihály Csákó's collected materials from the 26th Congress of the French Democratic Confederation of Labour, European and American trade union publications, research materials, studies, the German Labor Law, and leaflets.
Particularly noteworthy are the materials of the French trade union confederations: the Confédération Générale du Travail (C.G.T.), the publications of Le Peuple (issues 813-835 and 904-1089), Force Ouvrière (FO), and XVII Congrès.
