The "Composites-on-Tour-2" exhibition is a result of a cooperation between eight European organizations. The aim of the European Commission's "Research, Technological Development and Demonstration" program was to raise awareness of the science present in our everyday lives, through design objects.
Visitors to the exhibition were able to explore the composite materials, their functions and benefits, by walking through the interactive islands. The exhibition itself is a design exhibition: it presents the winning design products of a public competition. Simple products designed and created by designers, such as chairs, outdoor benches, eco-friendly coffee tables made of natural fibers, a ladder weighing just 1 kg, and many other eye-catching and practical objects are on display.
Other objects in the show include engineering feats and products, such as a carbon fiber bicycle and a 3-dimensional measuring camera used in aircraft manufacturing. Two young designers, Gábor Nádasi and Márk Selján, were among the Hungarian participants in the design exhibition.
The exhibition opened on 15 February 2007 at the Design Flanders Gallery in Brussels. From there it travelled to Budapest via Paris and Barcelona, and will be shown in Ljubljana and Eindhoven. The Budapest exhibition will take place in the exhibition space of OSA Archivum, Centrális Galéria (Budapest, V., Arany János u. 32.).

A Composites-on-Tour-2 projekt nyolc európai szervezet együttműködésének eredménye. Az Európai Bizottság „Kutatás, technológiai fejlesztés és demonstráció” című programjában megvalósított projekt célja az volt, hogy formatervezők használati tárgyaink keresztül irányítsa rá a figyelmet a minket körülvevő, a hétköznapjainkban is jelen levő tudományra.
A kiállítás látogatói interaktív szigetek közt járva fedezhették föl a kompozit anyagok összetételét, működését és előnyeit. A tárlat maga egy designkiállítás: egy nyilvános pályázat nyertes pályaműveit mutatja be. Egyszerű, ám formatervezők által dizájnolt és megalkotott termékek, mint székek, kültéri padok, környezetbarát, természetes szálból készült dohányzóasztalok, vagy például egy csupán 1 kg-os létra is látható, és sok egyéb, szemet gyönyörködtető és praktikus tárgy.
A pályamunkák másik része mérnöki csúcsteljesítményekből, termékekből áll, pl. egy szénszálas kerékpár, és egy a repülőgépgyártásban használt 3 dimenziós mérőkamera. Két magyar résztvevője is volt a design-kiállításnak, két fiatal formatervező, Nádasi Gábor és Selján Márk.
A kiállítás 2007. február 15-én nyílt meg Brüsszelben, a Design Flanders Galériában. Onnan Párizson és Barcelonán keresztül érkezett Budapestre, majd Ljubljanában és Eindhovenben lesz látható. A budapesti kiállítás helyszíne az OSA Archivum kiállítóterme, a Centrális Galéria (Budapest, V., Arany János u. 32.).
